Grilled Peaches

In honor of Fight Back Fridays over at Food Renegade (as well as Vegetarian Foodie Fridays and Foodie Fridays)I thought I would share this incredibly simple, delicious, summertime treat. As I was walking through the produce section of the supermarket earlier this morning, the air was thick with the intoxicating smell of peaches. I hadn’t planned on buying any, but it is hard to resist such perfectly ripe, seasonal fruit. Since I was using the barbecue anyway, I decided to grill the peaches as well. I started by slicing the peaches in half and removing the pit. I then dunked each half, cut side down, into melted butter, and then into granulated sugar. I placed them on a very hot grill for about two minutes, or just long enough for the fruit to caramelize and soften ever so slightly. Serve it up with a dollop of mascarpone cheese (sweetened with a little honey, and flavored with the seeds of one vanilla bean) and you have a  beautiful, simple, elegant, quintessentially summertime dessert that is perfect for a dinner party, alfresco luncheon, or backyard barbecue.  It doesn’t get any simpler or more delicious than this. Enjoy!

  1. Very nice! Simple yet elegant. Refreshing. A wonderful summer dessert.

It looks so nice that I think I’ll try incorporating a grilled peach into one of my entrees, maybe with a little balsamic glaze to keep it savory (and no whip cream of course).

  2. Awesome idea! I just had a white peach (versus yellow) for the first time this week. So good!

Oh, I love this recipe! Its much more thoughtful than one I used last summer from the food network site. I think the butter is probably the real crux to the amazing end product…

  6. I saw these on TV once and have been intrigued – grilled fruit? Really? My husband got a BBQ grill for his birthday/Father’s Day – maybe I can convince him to try it (he’s grilling everything he can get his hands on!)

  7. This looks great. What a simple but yummy idea. Must go buy some mascarpone cheese now! Thanks for linking.

  8. I have yet to try a grilled peach…you took it to another level with your topping. Thank you for sharing!!!
